RAF 6300
Pressure Reducing  Hydraulic Remote Control  Valve

Raf1.gif (7032 bytes)
Description
RAF 6300
is a piloted hydraulic valve activated by line pressure. The valve is normally closed, opens by hydraulic command. The valve reduces the line pressure to maintain a preset constant pressure downstream the RAF, at all flow rates. The set point of reduced pressure is adjustable.
The RAF 6300 is controlled by a three- way pilot valve, made of plastics. A spring- loaded membrane inside the pilot moves according to the downstream pressure changes. The pressure fluctuations are compensated by gradual opening & closing of the RAF.
Applications
Use RAF 6300 for agricultural & domestic networks of pressure rating up to 10 bars. Recommended size is 2”-4”.
RAF 6300 is highly compatible with controller or computer - controlled water systems, which initiate the remote or local command.
Typical applications are the scheduling of irrigation blocks & the sequential flushing of filter units of automatic filtration manifolds. The plastic pilot valve & hydraulic relay provide high corrosion resistance & cost-effective prices. That enable long, efficient service in domestic, water treatment circulation & filtration networks.

Installation
RAF Pressure Reducing Hydraulic Remote Control Valve is activated by line pressure & controlled by a pilot valve. The pilot includes a spring- loaded membrane which is exposed to the downstream (controlled) pressure. The displacement of the membrane due to the downstream pressure fluctuations defines the flow direction inside the pilot.  When the downstream pressure is lower than desired, the RAF valve is automatically directed to open. In the opposite case it is automatically directed to close. When line pressure is inserted into the RAF control chamber (above its diaphragm) the RAF closes. When the control chamber drains the RAF valve opens due to the line pressure from below its diaphragm.

RAF 6300- control mode
Manual:
Use the selection handle of the hydraulic relay to close or open the RAF 6300, simply by turning the handle to C or O, respectively.
Automatic: Position the selection handle of the hydraulic relay to A. The RAF’s control chamber is connected directly to the line pressure. The RAF 6300 is closed, as illustrated. When a hydraulic pulse (s in the drawing) is sent to the hydraulic relay, the relay’s plunger flips to the left. The RAF’s control chamber then drains out through the pilot’s ports 2-4. The RAF opens & functions as a pressure reducing valve. Under normal pressure lower then the preset maximum, the RAF is fully open. When the downstream pressure rises, it pushes the pilot's membrane upward. That moves the pilot plunger as well. Line pressure is connected to the RAF control chamber through the pilot’s ports 3-2. The RAF gradually closes to reduce downstream pressure. As the command pressure is cut off, the relay’s plunger flip back to the right, closing down the RAF, until the next cycle.

Adjustment
Adjust the reduced pressure by using the adjusting screw. See selection of springs on the next page.

Typical Application

RAF 6300 valves operated sequentially by an irrigation controller. Each valve reduces the line pressure for an irrigation plot.
